WESTERN FAMILY FARM is a small, diverse market garden located in La Puebla, NM. Our supporters, loved ones and friends make our work possible, and our name is a dedication to you. Our land is irrigated by the Acequia de Maestas, and bordered by the Santa Cruz River. We build fertility with compost, green manures, living mulches, and minimum tillage. Andy Warhol put it best when he said "I think that having land and not ruining it is the most beautiful art that anybody could ever want".

NATE MASSE grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His love of farming was cultivated in his early youth by spending time on his grandparent’s small farm in Colorado. On the farm, he helped his grandparents plant and harvest, and loved gathering fresh eggs from the chickens each morning. His love of plants permeated into his adult life, exemplified by the personal garden he maintains each year, as well as by the years he spent working on local organic farms in Austin, Texas. Nate has a B.F.A. in painting and drawing from the California College of the Arts, and also shows his work at several local galleries. He is currently renovating his new home and working as a janitor, but his roots remain planted in local farming.
