NORTHERN YOUTH PROJECT
"Northern Youth Project (NYP) was founded by teens in 2009 as a platform to develop skills that foster health, academic performance, and personal investment in their communities and the environment, for a brighter tomorrow today. The initiative works to support the outcomes and opportunities for rural Northern New Mexico youth through hands-on art, agriculture, community service, and leadership projects that honor the past and look to the future. Northern Youth Project serves young people ages 12 to 21, providing FREE programs and activities year round. The project works to empower teens in putting ideas into action: initiating projects they want to do, focusing on their interests, and engaging in activities driven by their passions."
TEWA WOMEN UNITED
"Located in the ancestral Tewa homelands of Northern New Mexico, Tewa Women United is a multicultural and multiracial organization founded and led by Native women. The name “Tewa Women United” comes from the Tewa words wi don gi mu which can be translated as “we are one” in mind, heart, and in the spirit of love for all."
"The spirit of our work is embodied in the Tewa concept of wo’watsi: with our breath is our commitment to live life as a prayer and view life as a cycle, knowing that what we do and give comes back to us. As Tewah Towah (Tewa peoples), we move in this world with generosity and a life-affirming reciprocity. That reciprocity is what this day is truly about. Giving and generosity are practices that are at the heart of Relational-tivity. When we give, we remember our connection with each other, with all beings, and with Nung Ochuu Quiyo, our Earth Mother."
